Under the Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme, it is permissible for the eligible elderly persons aged 60 years or above to be given pension through their bank accounts in two half-yearly installments every year at the rate of Rs 300 / - per beneficiary included in the BPL list. Under the above scheme, from 01.04.2011, pension amount is being given to the eligible beneficiaries in the age group of 60 years to 79 years as Rs. 200 / - per beneficiary centre and Rs. 100 / - per month as beneficiary state. . 

Pension amounting to Rs. 500 / - per month per beneficiary is being given as centrality for the beneficiaries in the age group of 80 years or more from 01.04.2011 by the Government of India. Earlier the beneficiary had to face a lot of trouble to take advantage of this scheme, many times had to make rounds of the office of Social Welfare Department, but now the beneficiary does not have to do so. Beneficiaries can now apply for this at home. It was made online from April 1, 2016.
